Policy platform

Law and order is the centrepiece. The party would recruit ADF veterans into the police, use AI to cut administrative work, and lower the age of criminal responsibility to 10. It would charge serious violent youths as adults, make parents liable, run a 24-hour bail court and trial capsicum spray, and it cites UK-style self-defence law.

Beyond law and order

It would scrap the Suburban Rail Loop and redirect the money to Airport Rail and Melton electrification. It would abolish Gellung Warl and the statewide Treaty, and scrap all net-zero targets and subsidies. It would cancel VNI West and the Western Renewables Link, reverse the gas-connection ban and repeal the nuclear ban. On tax, it would wind back land tax, raise the payroll threshold and abolish insurance stamp duty. It promises a back-to-basics curriculum and school vouchers, and an end to renewable subsidies. It would bring back logging and native timber and keep coal at Loy Yang and Yallourn ABCElection TrackerGuardian .

Vulnerabilities

Pickering admitted using ecstasy, methamphetamine and marijuana, and losing his licence three times for drink-driving, in September 2026. He denied smoking ice in front of children, and Hanson stood by him: “Who in this country has not tried drugs” GuardianSMH . Pickering also promoted a “15-minute city” conspiracy theory ABC . An AI-generated launch video featuring a machete-wielding African man and a Middle-Eastern suicide bomber drew racism claims, and Harkin denied it was racist ABC . Redbridge’s Kristy McSweeney says voters “can’t see what they’re going to do for Victoria” ABC .

Precedent/context

One Nation won the federal Farrer by-election with about 40% primary and 57% two-party-preferred Guardian .
